Why are my hands swelling and itching ?

For the past two weeks my hands have been swelling up really bad and itching with a tingly sensation and the felling moves from one hand to the other back and forth every other day and occasionally it happens in my feet. what could this be ?.. Is it possible to have gout in the hands? my father has gout in his feet so maybe it could be hereditary..
