Help with gout has anyone any suggestions on what might help it always comes in the big toe?

can anyone help with any suggestion's on how i can cure having gout constantly i seem to be getting it on a regular basis sometimes it lasts a week other times it can last months my doctor just gives me a 3 day course of tablets which does,nt seem to have a lot of effect
